This Toilet Tuesday (8/25/26)
August was apparently saving all the best stuff for last. After a fairly slow couple of weeks, we’re getting a handful big album drops all at once in the next couple days. Lots of things to listen to, so let’s get at it.
Triosphere – Oceans Above, Stars Below (Frontiers Records) [Power Metal]
I have to thank our boy Ken over at AMG for the hot tip on this one. Rarely do I hear a preview track and feel an overwhelming need to get the rest of the album in my ears RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, but Triosphere has some serious juice. They tickle the same part of my brain as Unleash the Archers, and not just because their vocalists share a similar timbre and delivery style. This is very guitar-oriented power metal, eschewing the bombastic orchestrations of most Euro-power bands in favor of punchy riffs. I really like what I’ve heard so far and can’t wait for the rest of it. 8/28/26 (Spear)
