If you’re a fan of Psyopus, The Red Chord, or old The Dillinger Escape Plan shit you’ve got a 43% head start on this exclusive premiere from Italian synapse-slashers Onryō. May as well burn your government documents now you filthy statist, because in 3 minutes your identity will be worthless.

You know when you’re hunting around for new music and you see a tag that grabs your eye, only to click the track and feel like you were suckered in with some false advertising? That shit sucks. Now, I don’t know if anarcho-grind is already a very well established sub-genre within the greater umbrella of grind, we can’t all attend every invite-only backyard gig of that nascent crypto-underground scene you crusty young fucks promote; after all, some of us decided to ignore the looming economic collapse and buy into the fallacy of infinite growth under rampant unchecked capitalism have day jobs to attend. But I’ll be damned if anarcho-grind isn’t the perfect descriptor for Onryō’s style of psychotic sonic spasms. Today we’re premiering the second track from their upcoming EP, aptly titled “The Pyromaniac – Anarchogrind”. Lock your doors, take your meds and then stab play below.

Full disclosure: that’s probably the most traditionally structured track of the bunch on this release.

The Rome-based band’s debut EP Mūto is a volatile melding of deleterious deathgrind and mental mathcore.

Featuring an intense performance from Giulio Gilati (Hideous Divinity and Nero Di Marte) on drums, these four tracks possess the kind of anxiety attack inducing urgency of Oblivionized and Seminary. You never know what to expect throughout the duration of the EP, I’ve spun it on repeat the last couple of days and am now tolerant to all known anxiolytics. Mainlining melatonin might be the only way to get a decent sleep from here on in. Mūto is a chaotic conglomerate where jazzy chord stabs punctuate flittering discordant runs and heavy-as-fuck deathgrind riffing, all fluidly composed with the fretboard versatility of someone as adept as genre-master Gunface (The Red Chord). Speaking of TRC, the vocals hark back a decade or so to the time when Guy Kozowyk was influencing people’s behaviour through wielding the microphone instead of a police badge and Travis Ryan wasn’t using every Cattle Decapitation chorus to audition for the role of Gollum. If you want to hear the previous track from the EP prior to its 20th of June release, I’ll embed it below.

You can pre-order Mūto on CD through Everlasting Spew Records and pick up the digital copy through their bandcamp page. Also, keep up to date with the band on their Facebook page and while you’re there give Everlasting Spew a thumbs up in approval of this madness.
