Depressing Lyrics And The Simpsons
A noble spirit no longer embiggens the smallest man.
The Simpsons is my all-time favorite show. I have loved it since the early Tracey Ullman Show days. I still love it to this day. I know there are some out there that will say that the show hasn’t been good since “x season” but I don’t care. Even on its worst day, The Simpsons is still light years ahead of just about every other comedy show currently on television. It’s one of the few things in life that consistently makes me happy.
Of course, it’s all about context. Take out the wacky situations and snappy one-liners, mute the whimsical music, throw in some sad lyrics from metal songs and this is what you get. Much like how Seinfeld quotes over depressing pictures work well, so too do Simpsons pictures with depressing lyrics. Grab a can of Duff, sit in your Spinemelter 2000, and let’s weep together.
Special thanks to fellow writers Leif Bearikson and CyberneticOrganism for creating some of these. Yes, there are more depressing bands or lyrics out there, but these are the ones we used. Our deepest apologies for not including a band/song/lyric/screenshot you like.
