Exclusive Track Premiere: Retching’s “Septic Entombment”

Swiss beats.
On August 22, 2025, the Ocean State’s Retching will release their debut LP Charming the Decomposed via Transcending Obscurity Records. This two piece from Li’l Rhody plays a sick, sickly, and pustulated death metal à la Undeath while nodding their fetid heads to Cannibal Corpse and Grave. Back in January, I described lead single “Shower Curtain Silhouette” as “no-bullshit, breakdown-laden death metal,” and the following singles have not disappointed. Second single “Premature Decapitation” offers up a rip-roarin’ skanky circle-pit passage interspersed with chopping, clink-forward blasts before the groove you’ve been dying for finally arrives around 2:07 to clear the way for a boot-busting stomp ‘n stamp breakdown that lands with the heft of a leaden toilet seat.
Today, we’re stoked to bring you the album’s third single “Septic Entombment.” One of my favourites on the entirety of Charming the Decomposed, “Septic Entombment” is as ugly, pugnacious, and gore-obsessed as any Fulci track. About the track the band has this to say:
Septic Entombment” is good ol’ fashioned rock ‘n roll about
disposing of your captive in a septic tank without mother finding out.
Egads! It would indeed be a frightful pickle if Mother discovered the body before it could be disposed in such an insalubrious fashion. “Septic Entombment” has that mid-paced Swedeath ‘n roll vibe, counterbalanced by some nasty blasts and one of the album’s most memorable moments beginning around 2:31. The riff festers and swells, much like your victim, but there’s no panic nor rush: take your time, bang your head, and toss that torso in the tank before anyone’s the wiser. Cooler, still-attached heads will prevail. Click play below to hear a most relatable tale:
