This Toilet Tuesday (2/7/23)
New week, new tunes, and a new list for you to drown in. Roldy and I had to wade through like five hundred NSBM releases to find all the not-fashy shit this week, so you’d better be grateful. The good news here is that the stuff left over is by and large pretty solid, so give it a peek and see if some of it tickles your fancy.
Carnosus – Visions of Infinihility (Independent) [Tech Death]
Carnosus was one of my favorite finds of 2020, putting up a strong debut of neoclassical-ish melodic tech death with the sound of seasoned veterans. Visions of Infinihility is the best kind of follow-up record: they’ve tightened up the screws on what they already did well while flexing their creative muscles into more diverse and varied songs. The spidery side of their music brings to mind some of the best of The Black Dahlia Murder’s more tech-infused riffing, and the slower mid-tempo tunes take on a more aggressive death metal bent while bringing in some unorthodox melodies. Big fan of the more robust mix than its predecessor, too, with a stronger low end and mids that really make the bass pop and the melodies stand out. This is excellent stuff for anyone hungering for some new tech. 2/10/23 (Spear)
