In the available preview track, “Mitosis,” Pillars of Cacophony splices the scraping dissonance of Sunless with start-stop grindcore, and even makes time for a jazzy interlude reminiscent of Merkur-era Klabautamann. Though the riffs are scalpel-sharp in tone, they manage to flow together organically—a testament to sole member Dominik’s songwriting ability.
