Up is down, black is white, the world makes no sense because lots of good black metal is dropping in Springtime. Last month Dödsrit put out a banger, to no one’s surprise, and now British bamboozlers Citvaen are releasing an atmo-black record with… groove? The bass has been promoted from its usual place buried in the mix, and occasionally leads the rhythm instead of just following the drums. On the two preview tracks, they clearly outclass their atmospheric peers when building tension by tempos.
