This Toilet Tuesday (4/21/20)
It’s Toilet Tuesday once more, and y’all gotta chill the fuck out on the stoner metal. Yeah, 420, I get it, but there was so god damn much of it this week and it all sounds exactly the same. I shouldn’t complain too much, though, as this week’s got some pretty sweet shit coming out; wade through that list and you’re bound to find something you’ll enjoy.
Barishi – Old Smoke (Season of Mist) [Prog Death]

Lest it be overshadowed by another bigger dissonant death metal album this week (which you should all totally listen to, it’s fantastic), I need to draw your attention to Barishi. “Blood Aura” is built on enormous, sludgy grooves and labyrinthine chords. I know that latter description tends to get thrown around with reckless abandon, but the little chromatic shifts up and down really evoke dizzying circular feeling in the bits between those monstrous riffs. I know next to nothing about this band, but based on the strength of this single, I’m ready to go discography diving. 4/24/20 (Spear)
