This Toilet Tuesday (7/3/18)
Holy shit, it’s Toilet Tuesday! And a small one! While there isn’t a ton of new stuff on the table, there are a fistful of solid releases for you to really sink your teeth into. Hans and I picked out a couple of the tastier morsels for you, but there are a couple mighty new albums in the big list, too.
Undergang/Gorephilia – Undergang/Gorephilia (split- Me Saco Un Ojo) [Death Metal]

I don’t know if I even need to say much about this split; the names attached to it speak pretty well for themselves. The Gorephilia side is more my speed (that is to say, “It go real fast”), but the Undergang side is gloriously vile. One more song from each band would have been amazing, but I’m not going to complain about getting two awesome new death metal tunes. This split is pure filth, very much worth your ten minutes. 7/5/18 (Spear)

It’s not that often that I hear folk-influenced music that isn’t informed by a nerdy LARP sensibility but instead rooted in the present day and an innocent love for the band’s roots (at least that’s what I see here). Also, I don’t see a lot of folk from Greece, so that’s two factors making this pretty refreshing. While the singer is kind of hit-or-miss for me, the passion in the music is undeniable and really pulled me in. All that plus the fact this is even on the list (it’s not really metal) made for a really pleasant surprise. 7/6/18 (Hans)
