In case you missed our premiere of “Ghoulish Delight,” first: how dare you, and second: this is your reminder that Vaelmyst has an album coming out this week, and it’s sounding fucking fantastic. Melodeath is at its best when the instrumental parts are equal part flashy and catchy (unless you’re going for an Insomnium style, but that’s not really Vaelmyst’s bag), and the two tunes available hit all the sweet spots. It’s a cut above the rest in just about every sense, and you should keep this on your radar for the week. 8/13/21 (Spear)
