Sargassus – King of the Sun (Inverse Records) [Prog Death]
There are only two styles a band named after seaweed can choose between: aquatic stoner doom or something beautiful that sways hypnotically in the sun—Thankfully, Sargassus plays the latter. Bright, post-metal riffing shines through fluid shifts in rhythm and genre; from blackened chords to reverb-soaked cleans reminiscent of The Grand Illusion-era Styx, King of the Sun promises to tangle listeners in its alluring web.
