Welcome back, boys and girls, to another edition of these quick wrap-ups of war metal recommendations. You may be wondering just how it is possible to fill three whole articles with “interesting” metal of this particular varietal, but just like the ever-churning machine that is the US industrial military complex, I buy my local politician work diligently so you don’t have to. Now let us gently brush aside those silly things such as forever conflicts, rising instability, and crushing costs. Join me as we focus on wars much more significant in importance and noisy riffs.

Prehistoric War Cult – Barbaric Metal (June 21, 2024)

War didn’t always operate in the ways of AI drones, orbital targeting, and wanton death. No, it used to be clubs, rocks, and wanton death and Germany’s Prehistoric War Cult are well versed in the arts of knuckle-dragging battles. A vicious sonic assault is of course to be expected, but on Barbaric Metalwe are also beat over the head with plenty of pure head-bobbing goodness designed to make all in your cave clan have a wild rumpus. Seriously, who needs to worry about such trivial topics as mass surveillance and soul-crushing debt. Simply furrow your elongated brow with me as we conquer those bastards in that other cave looking at us funny!

Antichrist Siege Machine – Promo MMXXVI (May 14)

In my initial war metal article, I mentioned ASM as being one of the trailblazers in today’s current scene, pushing this silly subgenre forward. Not in terms of experimentation, but in crafting a more “polished” version of the product where they also choose not to dabble in bullshittery that can perhaps be described as rampant. They were ultimately not chosen for the article as I had a sneaking suspicion that something was in the works and boy was I right. You should know what is in store: hyperviolent riffs, vocals, and production meant only for the real perverts hardcores. Just make sure to swing that mace a comfortable distance away along with your hair and/or beer belly.

SZMRDT – Best Of (March 23)

Mullet war metal from Prague. I have never visited the city, but now I firmly believe everyone dresses and drives around like the sex god upon the cover. And with names such as “Nocturnal Snare Desecrator,” “Judas Priest Escariot,” and “General Funeral,” these gents are guaranteed to bring the noise and good times. And speaking of Mr. Funeral, he also acts as vocalist for death metal up-and-comers Cancer Void, who fucking slay if you find yourself unaware. Come in for a spin in the war metal convertible loser, we’re going warring!
