Welcome to another This Toilet Tuesday, dear followers of the flush. The summer months have seen a steady flow of all kinds of new music, and it shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon! Best prepare a funeral pyre for your wallet now; the music waits below, and it will show no mercy.

deathrite

Deathrite – Revelation of Chaos (Prosthetic Records) [Death Metal]
Listen to “Circle of Destruction”

Prosthetic are 2 for 2 this summer with killer OSDM. Gutter Instinct brought you anarchic riffs, and now Deathrite are ready to hammer you with some hard-rocking death metal. “Toxic Hammer” sounds like Obituary back when they had a pulse. The riffs are tight. The leads are caustic. The drums tastefully shift from a standard plod to a full-blown rampage near the end of the song. Trust me when I say the rest of the album is just as killer. You’re headbanging. FFO: Autopsy, Pestilence, Asphyx (W.)

If ye ever wondered what’d Entombed sound like if they were a punk band, you dreamt of Deathrite. A little bit of grind/HC a’la Trap Them, some Sunlight-sounds and a lot of Swedeath is the recipe they build on.  It’s simple but it works, or more likely – it works because it’s simple. (Karhu)

indesinence

Indesinence – III (Profound Lore Records) [Doom]
Listen

If you like plodding and ponderous metal, III, the new offering from death and doom stalwarts Indesinence is now streaming for your aural pleasure. The album takes a couple tracks to really get going, but if you have the patience to wait it out, you’ll be rewarded with some excellent slow jams loaded with psychedelic passages and seismic grooves. Indesinence can bring the riffs too! What really ties this album together for me, though, are the urgent, almost manic vocals at parts. If this sort of music appeals to you, stick with it to album highlight “Mountains of Mind/Five Years Ahead (Of My Time).” FFO: Evoken, Disembowelment, Ophis (W.)

sadistic ritual

Sadistic Ritual – Edge of the Knife (Unspeakable Axe) [Thrash]
Listen to “Merciless Retribution,” “Edge of the Knife”

Not to be confused with New York’s defunct Sadistik Ritual, who were too cool for school with their Mortal Kombat spelling, this Sadistic Ritual is dropping a new EP full of thrashing righteousness. Honestly it’s probably the best Kreator record you’ll hear all year, making easily worth the $5 price of admission. Skip lunch today and pick this motherjammer up, lest ye be filled with the most denim kind of regret. (Leif Bearikson)

symphxunderworld

Symphony X – Underworld (Nuclear Blast) [Power Prog]
Listen to “Nevermore,” “Without You”

Based on what I’ve read, I think I’m one of about five people who actually preferred Symphony X’s Paradise Lost to Iconoclast, so I was initially disappointed when I first heard “Nevermore.” It sounds like a lost track from the latter, from the frantic noodly riffing to the guitar tone itself. After repeated listens, however, it’s started to grow on me. The solo has a lot more character than anything on Iconoclast and I dig the contrast between the chorus riff and the simplicity of the instruments surrounding it. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the album has in store. Except “Without You;” that song can go flush itself. (Spear)
