It’s Toilet Tuesday, you fucks. Get in here and jam some new tunes. Hans and I have picked out a couple standouts, but with Candlemass, Grafvitnir, and Úir all putting out new stuff, there’s plenty more to be had besides. Get on that and let us know if we missed anything.
Basilysk – Emergence (Independent) [Black Thrash]

Not entirely sure yet, but it sounds promising. The riffs shred hard and push forward relentlessly, but I’m not sure there’s enough content for a five-minute song, and the singer starts to grate a bit after a while. Nonetheless, it might still make for a cool album. 2/19/19 (Hans)
Traveler – Traveler (Gates of Hell Records) [Heavy Metal]

I haven’t had the chance to sit down with this entire album yet, but what I’ve heard thus far has been straightforward but perfectly executed NWOBHM-style throwback metal. The band shares a vocalist with Gatekeeper (who also have an album out this week) and a bassist formerly of Striker, and the rest of the musicians handle their instruments with acuity worthy of that pedigree. Nothing particularly groundbreaking, but enjoyable nonetheless. 2/22/19 (Spear)
