Savage and heartbreaking. Check out this exclusive stream of “Bellflower” from Canadian black metal trio Gilded Lily.

I’m thrilled to present your first taste of Mongrel’s Light, Gilded Lily’s debut LP. Folks that caught their L’Acéphale demo tape will immediately note that Mongrel’s Light presents an evolution from their raw, lo-fi beginnings to a fully-realized soundThis is a record that borrows openly from black metal, grindcore, and post hardcore while clinging to equal parts rage and desperation throughout. Much like the snarling dog that adorns the cover, Mongrel’s Light is vicious while maintaining a stylish sheen. Fans of A Pregnant Light will undoubtedly find something to dig in this record.

“Bellflower” rips wide open with a barrage of blastbeats and savage shrieks. It refuses to let up until crushing you with the full weight of a lifetime’s worth of disappointment.

The god you knew is gone
He hung himself from the bridge above the highway
Just across from the place you used to work

Mongrel’s Light will be out digitally on August 8th and on very limited edition tape this Fall. Go like Gilded Lily on Facebook to keep up with their comings and goings. Also, if you like this album art, check out more radical paintings from Quinn Henderson here.
