Hot damn, this is my jam. Much like last year’s Stortregn album, Ancalagon’s approach to black metal is focused on strong, sinister melody and proficient musicianship. “Glaurung the Golden Basilisk” is a big old heap of riffs and dueling leads, kind of resembling the Kalmah brand of melodeath put through a blackened filter.
