The only things certain in life are death, taxes, and about 500 metal bands putting out music that you’re never going to have time to listen to every week. It’s especially unfortunate when you get a relatively strong set of releases such as this one; most of those albums aren’t going to get the love and attention they deserve. Derhead – Irrational I (Brucia Records) [Black Metal]

Solo project Derhead from Italy hits rather hard with a track that starts out somber and ramps up to a dramatic, slightly dissonant, soul-crushing crescendo. It’s not as experimental as the press text would like it to be, but maybe the other track will do more in that regard. In any case, it’s pretty damn effective at ruining your day. 7/24/20 (Hans)
