Dygora – Southside Tapes (Independent) [Death / Deathcore]
Despite the Girardi monstrosities and fallen Seagrave sanctuaries that adorn untold metal albums, reality can be the most horrific canvas of all. Dygora’s latest EP, Southside Tapes, features only a minimally-edited photo of a city street, but the alienation, claustrophobia, and ever-present danger of two-ton death machines hits hard in 2K25. The band’s style of deathcore is bare as exposed brick, and lands on skulls with the same impact; start-stop C H U G Gz, bouncy grooves and rapped death growls reach listeners through bare-bones production. While the EP is mostly devoid of distractions such as reverb and faux strings, “Death by a Thousand Cuts” incorporates melody through ambient guitar tapping and unobtrusive synths.
