This Toilet Tuesday (5/24/22)
It’s Toilet Tuesday, and I’m dragging you all in kicking and screaming with me. None of you gets to leave until we’ve listened to all this new music, so get cracking. I’ve got Heaving Earth covered, so it’s on all of you to cover the rest. I’m expecting a full report by the end of the week.
Heaving Earth – Darkness of God (Lavadome Productions) [Death Metal]

I’ve seen the tag “dissonant death metal” bandied about a bit in regards to Heaving Earth, but don’t be fooled- for all the tension present here (at least in the two preview tracks), the music on this is very melodic. It’s also not “melodeath” in the traditional Gothenburg-influenced sense that comes to mind upon hearing that phrase. It’s more akin to something like Ulcerate or labelmates Horror God in the speed and intensity of their delivery. Whatever you want to call it, it’s some incredibly wild death metal, and it sits firmly at the top of my most-anticipated list for the week. Extremely cool shit happening on this one. 5/27/22 (Spear)
