Omnitrocy – States of Conscious Matter (Loud Rage Music) [Death]
States of Conscious Matter lies somewhere between Morbid Angel‘s lurching menace, Nile‘s slithering tremolos, and the off-kilter rhythms of nu metal. Songs like “Waste of Life” and “God of the Gaps” are as playful as they are ferocious, swerving through deathgrind extremity and simple, stomping grooves with little warning. Subtle electronics—like the distorted, wavering voice in “God of the Gaps'” second half—add an industrial edge to Omnitrocy’s style, which works especially well combined with the album’s cold, treble-heavy production.
