This Toilet Tuesday (9/3/19)
Toilet Tuesday rolls around once more, and I’ve got all the new music this week heaped up in a pile for you to dig through. Most everything blended together for me this week, so it’s on you to find most of the good shit (Omophagia excepted). One consistent issue that brutal death and BDM-adjacent bands have is a lack of memorable music; much as I tend to enjoy shutting my brain off and letting the riffs batter me about, there aren’t typically a whole lot of moments that truly stick out. Omophagia breaks the mold in this regard, touching up their hefty tunes with melodic hooks and leads. It’s a small change from the typical BDM formula, but the effect is substantial, and 696965 is shaping up to be one of the better albums in the genre this year. 9/6/19 (Spear)
