Where did you learn to fly?

Wake up! It’s a new year and a new you! Well…one of those things is true. You’re still the same old metal thrashing maniac. There’s no changing you. Eat, sleep, work, mosh, repeat. You still toss on your battle vest one arm at a time. No need to comb your hair when you can toss on your old, greasy Suicidal Tendencies snapback. And when someone tells you not to stage dive, you’re not going to listen, are you?

Our friends in New York’s Electrocutioner have returned with their new video for “Asleep At The Wheel”. When someone says “Do not get up on stage” you should probably listen to them. When someone else shouts “DON’T JUMP OFF THE FUCKING STAGE” you should probably listen to them too. But not you. You’re a loner, Dottie. A rebel. You’ve seen Toxic Holocaust 50 times and came out fine, right? What would be different this time? Well…

About the song and video, the band says:

“When my wife was a teenager, she was hit by a car and left for dead. The speeding maniac fled the scene and was never caught. “Asleep at the Wheel” is my revenge fantasy. In the song, the driver who commits the hit in run gets possessed by the girl’s soul after he flees the scene. She then haunts him and ‘drives’ him crazy until he kills himself.”

We shot the video at NJ Metal Fest 9 on July 20, 2024 at the Debonair Music Hall. We had to stop our set halfway through as a stagediver attempted to do a frontflip off the stage, landed on his neck, and shattered his collar bone, which you can see in the video. We had a ton of maniacs rush the stage and jump off it that night, and the venue told us to announce to the audience that there was no more stage diving allowed. Of course, once you tell people not to do something they want to do it more. Luckily, the kid was super cool about it and you can see that the paramedics took good care of him. Jerry, who runs the fest and was awesome about it and let us finish our set. Whiplash headlined that night and they’re one of our biggest influences, so it meant the world to us just to share the stage with them.

Ouch! Watch what happens when you don’t listen.

Maybe stick to headbanging and the circle pit.

“Asleep At The Wheel” appears on False Idols. The band will be releasing their second album Harbinger later this year via CDN Records.
