Quantum Twilight – Hypersonic Demolition (Independent) [Power Metal]

Maybe I’m not very in tune with the power metal world anymore, but it seems pretty rare to run into a band overtly drawing influence from Dragonforce. Quantum Twilight’s influence is about as on-the-nose as you can get from the song structure to the guitar tricks to the damn album title, but they totally nail the vibe, and sometimes all you need is some uplifting power metal. It’s also pretty impressive knowing it’s only two guys doing this; part of me wonders if finding an actual drummer would have helped mix up the percussion a bit, but we all know how impossible it is to find one who’s not already busy with a hundred other projects. In any case, this is a lot of fun, and I can see it getting more than a few spins from me in the near future. 8/5/22 (Spear)
