It’s Toilet Tuesday, nerds. You know we weren’t going to leave you hanging. This seems like a particularly strong week of releases for black metal fans, though there’s a good amount of stuff across the board as far as genre goes. Give it a shot and tell us what you’re looking forward to this week.
Sigil – Nether (Independent) [Blackened Sludge]

I always enjoy when I hear a preview track and don’t know what to expect from the full album. Sigil puts forth a tantalizing blend of proggy sludge and surprisingly pleasant black metal on “Compounds” with such a range of emotion and styles of riff that the rest of the album could feasibly go in any direction from it. Definitely one to keep an eye on if you’re a fan of either black metal or sludge (or both, naturally). 5/7/21 (Spear)
