This Toilet Tuesday (6/18/19)
Oh SHIT, it’s Toilet Tuesday again. We’ve got a fairly small list for you to peruse today, but there’s an inordinate amount of good material in it- more so than some of the bigger lists. I’ve picked out a couple of smaller releases that might have flown under the radar, but there’s a lot more solid music to be had this week. Check it out, maybe share something from a band you haven’t heard of before.
Glare of the Sun – Theia (Lifeforce Records) [Sludgy Doom]

My favorite dirty doom bands, generally speaking, are those that lean into sludgier material than straight up death metal. Glare of the Sun is just such a band, with big riffs caked in grime and a nasty, crunchy scream atop it all. There’s a little bit of a post-metal element present as well, bittersweet strings springing up in the latter half of “XI.” Only three tracks are available as of this writing, but Theia is sounding promising thus far. 6/21/19 (Spear)

After a somewhat lackluster showing from Fleshgod Apocalypse, I’ve been hungering for some new death metal that’s extremely Italian. Lo and behold, Iato is here with the answer to my desperate cries. The two tracks we’ve got available right now are super fast and violent, with technical riffing that never turns into flat-out noodling. I’m super into this, and I imagine a lot of you will be, too. 6/19/19 (Spear)
