This week on Toilet Radio: Gen X Correspondent Ian sits down with acclaimed film, video game, and television composer Bear McCreary. For folks unfamiliar, Bear has composed music for everything from Battlestar Galactica, God of War, The Walking Dead, and The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power. Bear tells us the origins of his desire to put out heavy metal albums after working with Brendon Small, Serj Tankian, and Gene Hoglan on a track for Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019). Now on his second album of his Singularity arc, Bear tells us about getting every heavy hitter in hard rock and heavy metal to join him in releasing tunes. Gen X Ian presses Gene on drum quantization and sampling, the economics of recording drums, and sequencing music for a modern metal sound. Is releasing a metal record a sound financial investment? Hear it from a world-renowned musician himself, “Absolutely not!” This is an excellent interview. Enjoy!
