O Bemis above, crapper in the clouds, bless us this day with b-hole benevolence. This week we’ve got geriatic goth, Metallica Typo-core, and yeehaw black metal. It’s a weird one—must’ve been something Metal-Archives ate. Strap on that snorkel, we’re going overbowl!
Nebelkrähe – Ephemer (Crawling Chaos) [Post-Black]
This preview track from Ephemer is as unsettling as the cover art—a familiar experience distorted into a menacing spectacle. Experiments with brass instruments and wailing, theatrical vocals buttress a black metal backbone, and even the staple blasts and tremolo riffs of the genre have been mangled into new shapes. There’s a pompous rock attitude in portions of the track, and the forays into clean guitar and dungeon synth atmosphere provide brief shelter from the chaos.
